Hands resting on an open Bible together in a study circle

What we believe

Old convictions, plain language

We hold to the historic Christian faith. Here's what that means without the jargon.

Scripture

The Bible is God's trustworthy word to us — the final authority for what we believe and how we live.

God

One God, eternally Father, Son, and Spirit, who creates, rescues, and sustains all things.

Jesus

Fully God and fully human, crucified and risen, He came for reconciliation. He became the Son of Man so that the sons of men could become the sons of God.

Grace

We are saved by grace through faith, not by our record. Nobody earns a seat at this table.

The Church

Church is not merely a religious congregation, but an ekklesia — an assembly of covenantal kingdom citizens, called out to decide the affairs of the Kingdom.

The Great Commission

We exist for our neighbors, not for ourselves. Good news is meant to be carried out the door.

Our story

Started in a rented gym, still built on the same idea

House of Bread Ministries began in 1998 with thirty-one people, a borrowed sound system, and a conviction that Centurion needed a church where questions were welcome.

Nearly three decades later we gather in a building on Willem Botha Dr, but the posture hasn't changed. We teach straight through books of the Bible. We hand real responsibility to volunteers. We spend a fixed share of every dollar on our neighbors.

Our elders are unpaid and locally rooted. Our finances are audited yearly and published to the church. If you want to know how a decision got made, ask — we'll tell you.

If you're skeptical about church, you are genuinely welcome. Sit in the back. Take your time. Ask the uncomfortable question.
